TruNorth Announces New President/CEO
The TruNorth Federal Credit Union Board of Directors is pleased to announce the selection of Steve Smith as President/Chief Executive Officer. Smith succeeds retiring CEO George Isola.
Smith comes to TruNorth with over 18 years of experience in the credit union industry. He is joining TruNorth from Baraga County Federal Credit Union where he held the role of President/CEO since 2013.
Prior to his time at Baraga County FCU, Smith worked at Michigan Tech Employees Federal Credit Union as Vice President/Chief Financial Officer for 12 years. Prior to that, Smith worked at D&N Bank in various roles.
Smith has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Michigan Technological University. When asked about his new position, Steve stated, “I am excited to join such a fantastic organization and honored that I have been chosen for this role. I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the team and serving the membership of TruNorth Federal Credit Union.”
Smith is also a Certified Credit Union Compliance Expert and a graduate of Credit Union National Association Financial Management School.
TruNorth Board of Directors Chair, Tom Skrenes said, “We are very excited to have Steve Smith with us. He has a wealth of experience and a proven record of success at two credit unions in the Upper Peninsula. He knows our field of membership and he is dedicated to service as a priority.”
