Tracey Tippett Awarded 2021 Michigan Veteran of the Year

Tracey Tippett, Supervisor of the Operations Department at TruNorth Federal Credit Union, was recently awarded the 2021 State of Michigan Veteran of the Year. Tracey had also recently received the 2021 Marquette County Veteran of the Year as the first female to receive the award.

Tracey served in the United States Marine Corps from 1987 until 1992. She was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma in Arizona as a heavy-duty mechanic. Tippett continues to serve our local veteran community. She is a life member of the Marine Corps League, Military Order of the Devil Dogs, and Marquette County Veterans Alliance Committee. Tracey is also the local Toys for Tots Coordinator, has held many different offices in the veteran community, and is always volunteering at local veteran events.

“I am totally surprised knowing how many veterans and different veteran groups there are in the state of Michigan and to be chosen State of Michigan Veteran of the year. I am truly humbled and extremely honored to be receiving this award. Knowing that as a veteran, we don’t do what we do for awards, or pictures in the paper, for the accolades or our names in blinking lights. We do what we do because we care about our veterans, we want to make sure they are receiving their benefits, that their spouses or family members needs are taken care of, and that our veterans are treated with respect, dignity and honor that they deserve…I thoroughly enjoy what I do, and sometimes don’t feel I do enough, but I try my best to support all those that I can. I am and always will be a proud Woman Marine Veteran,” Tippett said of the award.

Steve Smith, President/CEO of TruNorth said, “Tracey’s dedication to our community, through the Toys for Tots campaigns and through her other service projects, and to our veterans and to the Marines in our area and throughout Michigan is outstanding.  She truly exemplifies the Marines’ motto of Semper Fidelis, as she is always faithful and always loyal in all that she does, in her service to others, and in how she lives her life.  We here at TruNorth are honored to work alongside Tracey in her service to all, and we are very proud of her and her accomplishments.  Congratulations, Tracey!”

Tracey has been employed at TruNorth Federal Credit Union for the last 27 years. Most recently as the Operations Department Supervisor. Please join us in celebrating Tracey on Tuesday, November 9th beginning at 11:00 am in the lobby of TruNorth’s main office in Ishpeming.
